North West Hobart Graduates Hockey Club

AGM: Tuesday 28th October, 7:30pm, Olympians Room THC

Notice of Proposed changes to the NWHGHC constitution to be tabled and voted on at the upcoming AGM.

Some small changes to the club constitution are proposed at this years AGM to update two sections that will ensure a smoother and less difficult path to any future upgrading and modernising of the club constitution.

The Constitution was written some years ago before the advent of email and social media.  Now, the major communication platform for club maters is by an emailed newsletter or social media. Therefore, it is proposed that this section relating to the advertising of the AGM is changed to read ‘electronic communications’. This is a much more efficient way to reach our members let alone a much cheaper alternative to advertising in a newspaper.

The other small change deals with quorum numbers at the AGM.

This has always been difficult to achieve a full quorum, so we are seeking to reduce this number from 30 to 10.  This is also the number suggested in the Template Constitution, published this year by the Tasmanian Department of Sport and Rec for Tasmanian Sporting clubs to adopt.

Proposed Changes :

13. Notices of general meetings

At least 14 days before the day on which a general meeting of the Association is to be held, the public officer of the Association is to publish in at least one newspaper circulating in Tasmania an advertisement specifying –
