School Hockey Umpires Wanted

Primary School Hockey

Games played Saturday mornings 9-11am at Cornelian Bay. Hin2H Umpires would be required to act as guides to players who would mainly be beginners.

8 week roster commencing Saturday 30th April – 25th June (no finals)

High School Hockey

Games played Mon-Fri at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre from 4.15pm (4pm start Wednesdays) possibility of 5.15pm games depending upon number of team entries.

Div 1 year 11/12 – (girls Tuesday/boys Friday)

Div 2 year 9/10 – (girls Wednesday/boys Friday)

Div 3 year 7/8 – (girls Monday/boys Thursday)

12 week roster commencing Monday 2nd May – 1st August (Finals week of 8th August)

Payment $15 per game.

Umpires would need to have completed a Community Level Accreditation

School Holiday Clinics

Hockey Tasmania will be running school holiday clinics from the 11th of April to the 20th of April. The clinics will include Hookin2Hockey programs for children aged 5-12 and Super Skills programs for children aged 10-14. All of these clinics will be held at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre and the cost will be $20 per session.

State Nominations are now open for the following age groups

Under 18

Players wishing to be considered for selection in the 2016 Tasmanian U18 Mens and Womens team, should complete an online nomination form by Friday 18 April.

This year’s tournament will be held in Launceston between the dates of Fri 8/7 – Sun 17/7.
Players eligible to nominate are men and women aged 18yrs and under as at 31 December 2016.

Under 12

Players wishing to be considered for selection in the 2016 Tasmanian SSA U12 Boys and Girls Team, should complete an online nomination form by Friday 22nd April.

This year’s tournament will be held in Cairns between the dates of Sun 31/7 – Fri 5/8.
Players eligible to nominate are boys and girls aged 12yrs and under as at 31 December 2016.

GJ Gardiner June Long Weekend – Junior Intra State Tournament

Nominations are now open for the June Long Weekend Junior Intra state tournament. The Tournament will be held on the June Long weekend June 11-13 in Launceston, at St Leonards Hockey Centre.

For our newer players, or those who have not participated in this tournament previously, this is the main event on the Junior calendar and offers players a fantastic opportunity to experience playing alongside their peers from other clubs in a regional based competition. . Hockey South fields two sides in both the boys and girls competitions in the following aged groups – Under 13 , Under 15 and Under 18.
Under 13’s and Under 18’s teams will play on Saturday and Sunday and Under 15’s will play on Sunday and Monday

Nomination Process
Both Jacki and I, as well as all our junior coaches, would encourage all our juniors to consider nominating and trying out for these teams.
Nomination arrangements have changed this year and you need to nominate online at the following Hockey Tas website https://jis-nominations-2016.eventdesq.com/org
You will receive an email to confirm your nomination.
To be eligible for a given age-group, a nominee must be under the stated age prior to 1st Jan this year
There is a fee of $10 payable on nomination to cover the costs of the regional selection trials. If selected there will be a further fee of $30 payable by each athlete to cover training and competition costs.

Nominations close on the 30th April 2016.

Volunteers for the June Long Weekend Tournament
Please note that as this is a volunteer-based event, if you are able to assist in any way as either a Coach, Team Manager or Umpire, or even to take on a minor role in one of the selection trials.
