Thank You Brendan

The club committee and members would like to wholeheartedly thank Brendan Moore for his incredible contribution as Club President for the last 4 years.  Brendan has lead the club forward in his inimitable way, ensuring that every member from youngest to oldest felt valued and included.

Brendan has presided over 2 A grade womens premierships and 1 A grade mens premiership and a period of great success for the club on many other levels.

Brendan's professionalism, caring and energy will be greatly missed by the Committee and we wish him well as he takes on a greater involvement with Hockey Tasmania officiating duties

Thanks Brendan!!

A GRADE MEN STATE PREMIERS

E-mail Print PDF

Congratulations to our A Grade Men who took out the State Premiership in convincing fashion last Sunday with a 5-1 win over Queechy.

In the last 10 minutes Mullins moved Timbo and Pups up to the forward line.  Pups fell over in front of goal, and Timbo bashed a penalty corner about 5 metres off the ground.  Perhaps they had better stay down back!!!

A great season though, and probably the last A Grade game for Parky and Timbo, and the last for Coach Mullins.   A fitting way to end.

A GRADE MEN VICTORIOUS OVER OHA!!!

Our A grade men are the Hockey South Premiers for 2011.  In an outstanding team performance characterised by tough brave hockey the team defeated OHA in extra time.  With some gutsy individual performances and sublime skills, the guys were able to show the hockey community what top level hockey really looks like and with young players such as Keiron Arthur, Mark Barrenger and James Bourke leading the way the Bulldogs future looks bright.

Well done to the coaching staff and leadership group on a fantastic season...Go Bulldogs!

The annual HS Presentation evening was held last night at the Tasmanian Hockey Centre.

Our Club was awarded the Ron Mills trophy for the Best Performed Club in Juniors in 2011.  What a fantastic effort and a fitting reward to all those who, coach, manage, organise and just generally support our junior teams.  Well done!!!

NWG players and teams were recognised with the following awards.

Brendan Moore received the Dean Williams award for his outstanding contributions to hockey, not only has Brendan been our esteemed club President this year, but he has also been the Tournament Director for the National U18 Championships in Hobart, Convenor of the Officiating Committee, NWG representative on the Southern Competitions committee, a member of the AHL fundraising committee and has umpired, officiated and just generally helped out whenever the need arose. A well deserved honour for Brendan.

Tara Moore won the award for the Highest Goal scorer in A grade women with 20 goals for the season – great effort Totes we will expect a couple more goals in the finals

Lucy Elder was the joint Best and Fairest for 4th Grade women - well done Lucy!

Senior Finals

The A grade women played their preliminary final against OHA and were unlucky to lose 2-0 after dominating the first half and holding possession and creating many scoring opportunities.  Bad luck girls a great season nevertheless.

For A Reserve women season 2011 is over after they suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss in extra time in the PF after finishing minor premiers.

After magnificent performances in their Semi and Prelim finals and coming from 4th place, Vets women were unlucky to lose their Grand Final 0-2 to OHA.  Injuries to 3 of their key midfielders made the job especially difficult but the Vets ladies didnt go down without a fight.

Fifth grade men played a hard fought Grand Final against a strong Uni side and unfortunately couldnt quite get over them on the day.  Bad luck guys.
